Finance/Accounting Intern

The primary function of the Intern student will be to assist the accounting department in the completion of tasks that contribute to the efficiency of the department while maintaining
compliance with company policy and procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with fixed asset inventory
  • Physical Inventories: Work with others outside the Accounting group to perform physical inventories.
  • Assisting with record retention
  • Auditing Capabilities: Understanding of Contractor Time & Material Billings and markups
  • Assisting with review of contractor invoices and time sheets.
  • Assisting with purchasing vendor file maintenance
  • Opportunity to assist in various areas of accounting – inventory,
    accounts payable, payroll, billing and purchasing.
  • Team Oriented: Sense of urgency, focus and curiosity
  • Able to take instructions, execute and effectively communicate results.
  • Able to work with accounting and non-Accounting personnel.
  • Safety Awareness: Ability to work safely and adapt to environment when around machinery

Educational Requirements/Qualifications:

Must be currently enrolled as a student majoring in Finance or Accounting that
has completed one year of study and has a minimum grade point average of 3.0 is
required. The candidate must be eligible to work in the US on a full-time basis. 


Strong written, verbal, mathematical, and interpersonal skills are
essential. Candidate must display maturity and a high level of professionalism.


Employer Expectations:

The intern student must take ownership of their work. The ability to work with others, take
direction and maintain a positive attitude is essential.

Housing Information for a Co-op Intern:

A housing stipend may be offered up to $500 grossed-up per month if necessary.

Must be currently enrolled at a participating University, Mississippi State University, The University of Mississippi, Auburn University, University of Alabama, University of Maine, University of North Carolina State, University of Miami Ohio, Georgia Tech or Tennessee Technology University, majoring in Accounting or a related field and have completed the Sophomore year.A minimum grade point average of 3.0/4.0 is required and must be a permanent U.S. resident
