PCA is seeking to fill 1 Compensation/Payroll/HRIS Intern position at our corporate headquarters in Lake Forest, Illinois.

 

 

Position Summary:

 

The internship/co-op within the Corporate departments of Compensation, Payroll and HRIS is intended to be a short-term opportunity for an undergraduate to obtain hands-on analytical and project management support for the company’s Compensation programs.  In further working with the Payroll and HRIS system, this includes participation in analyzing and auditing HR/Payroll related systems, month end reporting activities and preparation of payment requests.  The primary component of the role will allow the individual to collaborate with not only the PCA HRIS/Compensation and Payroll team members but allow exposure to corporate culture and training aid in future career successes. 

 

 

Decision Making:

 

The Intern has access to sensitive and confidential information and is expected to maintain and safeguard this information at all times. The Intern is responsible for assisting in the collection and evaluation of detailed information surrounding the compensation and jobs of the organization. This individual will make recommendations for the compensation processes and/or overall service delivery for the department.

 

 

Principle Accountabilities:

 

Under direct supervision of professional staff, provide entry-level professional support services in compensation as appropriate to the day-to-day operating objectives of the department.

 

Use acquired knowledge and skills to carry out and complete project activities.

 

Assist in the auditing of Payroll System totals in comparison to the General Ledger Accounting System.

 

Assist in regular month-end payroll activities and preparation of payment requests.

 

Provide assistance to the department for the compensation processes of merit, bonus and equity awards.

 

Assist in preparing and updating job descriptions.

 

Maintain knowledge and ensure the protection of hardware/software system security policies, practices and requirements.

 

Assist with on-demand tasks and serve on project teams as required. 

 

Know and follow policies and procedures of the company, share information that would benefit other members of the team and find ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers.

Basic Qualifications:

 

Must be currently enrolled and working towards a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, management information systems, finance/accounting or related field having completed freshman year or will have completed the freshman year when co-op begins.

 

Broad understanding of business principles, theories, concepts and practices.

 

Must be in good standing with the University with a minimum grade-point average of 3.0/4.0.

 

Experience using Microsoft Office Suites particularly Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word. 

 

Successful completion of drug screen required and authorization to work in the U.S.

Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate to multiple audiences and purposes.

Experience using Microsoft Access would be preferred.

 

Basic understanding of relational databases and human resources management systems is preferred.   

 

Previous experience working in a team environment preferred, or a strong understand of the importance of open communication and information sharing among coworkers.
